WHY UC TEMUCO?

The Catholic University of Temuco is a community of 11,000 students and academics located in the city of Temuco, Araucanía Region, which offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in the areas of Health, Engineering, Education, Social Sciences, Natural Resources, Legal and Economic Sciences, Religious Sciences and Philosophy and Architecture, Art and Design.

HOW TO APPLY TO UC TEMUCO?

Your university's mobility unit should contact the UC Temuco mobility office at movilidad@uct.clto apply to our university.

Application Requirements:

  • Fully completed and signed visitor and foreigner form (attached). 
  • Certificate of grades of the courses taken so far. 
  • Letter of nomination to the exchange by your institutional coordinator. 
  • Academic Resume. 
  • Copy of your passport. 
  • Copy of the letter of acceptance of the mobility.

The UC Temuco Mobility Unit submits the application to the Career Head, sending academic background and asking if there are available places to receive the student. Check the careers here.

Once the Career Director responds that the application is accepted, the mobility unit sends the institutional acceptance letter to the IR office of the partner university.

For a correct arrival to UC Temuco, you will be assigned a host (Buddy Program), who is a student who will support you for your arrival to Chile and to the University.

  2. Open a bank account that allows for international money orders
  3. Applying for the Visa 
  4. Purchase your ticket: It is recommended to arrive one week before the start of class.
  5. Search for accommodation
  6. Find out the start date of classes at the host university: Academic Calendar

Once the student has been accepted, has fulfilled all the requirements and is in Chile, the mobility unit will arrange an interview with his/her career manager to discuss the subjects to be enrolled, schedules and rooms.

At the end of the academic year, it is important that the Career Heads verify that the academics have entered in the system all the grades corresponding to the subjects registered by the student.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

  • Language of instruction: Spanish, a B1 certificate is recommended as most courses are in this language. 
  • Health Insurance: To have health insurance with coverage in case of accident, illness, psychological and psychiatric consultations, hospitalization and repatriation, and the most frequent pathologies in Chile. In the current international health context, coverage for COVID 19.
  • Class attendance: Attendance is part of the grade and in order to pass a course the student cannot be absent for more than 20% of the classes.

TRAVELS THROUGH THE ARAUCANÍA

Araucanía is one of the most beautiful regions of Chile. It has five national parks, eight volcanoes and 16 hot springs.

Temuco, capital of the Araucanía Region, is a city in southern Chile, located between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains, an hour's flight from the city of Santiago, the capital of Chile.

Ten blocks from the Plaza de Armas, it has one of the most important protected natural areas of the Araucanía, the Cerro Ñielol Natural Monument, where some of the native flora species of the area are visible.

Its climate is temperate, rainy with a Mediterranean influence, and its average annual temperature is 11 °C.
